it’s also because the white gaze is so prevalent in like music interviewing and news that they feel like they have some natural place digesting and “analyzing” black artistry that they don’t have lol

so tired of DJ Smallz eyes and all these white culture vulture
interviewers who intentionally belittle and condescend to black artists
and use hella coded language to get the responses they want. Like when
they kept asking EVERY dark skin black girl about colorism because they
wanted a headline or to treat them like “educational” moments. But then
it’s black people especially black men who largely watch them and don’t
even realize they’re like allowing themselves to view other black people
through this obviously gaze-y and vice-like point of view like… stop
letting white people interview black artists dude this is not nat geo

I got questions

I love that this was already in my likes…. us
white people in their 20s hate disco so much despite not knowing anything about it because their mother Susanna was drinking wine and dancing to the Hustle out of rhythm to escape her joyless marriage not because disco is actually bad
Men want you to be their teachable moment so badly and consider you an enemy if you don’t respect their “process” or even worse if you tell them straight up their growth is pathetic and not worth acknowledging lol it’s like…. Have you considered… I don’t
… want to be that for you? Have you considered… No? 🤔
