rich white ppl coopted the term selfcare to not feel shitty about being selfish and not feel guilty about buying useless expensive shit when term was meant for poor/disabled/poc and was radical bc it was for ppl who capitalistic system tells they dont deserve to be cared for
similar to many posts of ppl calling themselves empths that r just ppl complaining about others having feelings near them and not wanting to deal with the thought that other ppl also have a rich inner emotional life and seeing that fact as a burden instead of like ..having empathy
Like extremely tru there r ppl who feel others pain more acutely but those ppl aren’t the ones concerned with the kind of “pls b gentle with also being a living person near me i get anxiety about being reminded that there r narritive threads other than my own” self protection
